Le championnat départemental sert de support pour la qualification au championnat de la Ligue. Il est ouvert aux jeunes ayant un certain niveau. Les débutants ne sont pas conseillés d’y participer.
La licence A est obligatoire cette année. Les jeunes inscrits à ce tournoi sont invités à le signaler au professeur d’échecs afin de permettre à ce dernier de vérifier s’ils disposent de la licence A, et le cas échéant de transformer par le club la licence B en licence A.
